Magda Szubanski has shared a rare update on her cancer treatment, cheekily showing off a gift she’s received to keep her occupied.

In May, the beloved Australian actor revealed she had stage four mantle cell lymphoma.

In a new video posted on Instagram, she talks directing to the camera: “Having the cancer is not all bad because look…” as she pans across to reveal a new Lego Land Rover set.

“I am such an 11-year-old boy trapped in a 64-year-old lesbian’s body. I don’t know how that happened. It just is what it is.”

The Kath and Kim star joked: “I just think it was gonna be a real Land Rover, but look this will do,“ before adding “getting so bored now”.

In the caption, Szubanski said the Lego set will keep her busy, although she has “numbness in fingertips” from the chemotherapy treatment, “but…I’ve planned ahead and ordered a building kit with pliers and finger protectors !! GOOD TIMES!!!”

“Now all I need is a Lego Queen Elizabeth II to pop in the driver’s seat.”

There was plenty of support in the comments, including calls for a Lego version of her Kath and Kim character: “We need a Lego Sharon Strezlecki to pop in the driver seat!”

“The one thing chemo hasn’t taken away from you is your spirit & your sense of humour Magda. You rock, you’ve got this,“ was another comment.

The winner of the first MasterChef Australia, Julia Goodwin, also shared a simple heart emoji.

In May, Szubanski spoke about her “rare and fast-moving“ cancer.

“I won’t sugarcoat it: it’s rough. But I’m hopeful. I’m being lovingly cared for by friends and family, my medical team is brilliant.

“This is an obscure cancer and was only discovered incidentally via a breast screen where they found my lymph nodes were up.”

As well as Kath and Kim, Szubanski has starred in host of Australian TV comedy shows including Full Frontal and Big Girl’s Blouse. She has also been in movies including Babe, where she played the farmer’s wife, Esme Hoggett.
